Standard Scale Configurations
There are three more-or-less standard scale configurations whose names are found frequently. There is some variation and the word "standard" is applied loosely. They are:
Mannheim. The first standard and which consisted of four scales only: a single and a double logarithmic cycle on both the slide and stock (A, B, C and D). It also often has trig scales on the bak of the slide.
Rietz. This was essentially the above standard plus trigonometric scales. It sometimes included logarithmic, cube and reciprocal scales. (L, K and CI)
Darmstadt. This added log-log scales (LL1, LL2 and LL3) to the above configuration. Some variants included a CI and a P scale, Ö(1 - x2).
